A year ago, yesterday, a group of us decided to try the Strides Run Streak idea and run 1 mile a day for the month of December. We did not actually sign up for the Strides streak but instead started a private facebook group where we needed to post daily that we completed the mile. It was great as most of my family did it which made it easier to get out on Christmas and New Years eve to complete the challenge.
After the month was over we decided that we would make 2015 the year of monthly challenges! Each month consisted of a different fitness challenge that needed to be completed on a daily or weekly basis. Participants had to post each workout and as an added incentive we put money on the table. If you did not complete the challenge you had to pay $40. We had anywhere from 6 to 12 participants and after a couple months we added a nutrition component. Participants had to change one thing in their diet by taking something out or adding something in, to make it better!
We are now one year later and have officially signed up for the Strides Run Streak! Day two is complete. You can follow my runs on twitter @kawaharatricia as I try to complete my second year of Streaking!
I am not sure what 2016 will bring, if we will do a monthly challenge or think of something different (suggestion???) but I will miss reading the daily posts from the group and hope that everyone continues with being active and challenging themselves to something different each month.
